Sustainability
Our Approach
At Lantic Maple, sustainability is an integral part of how we operate. As a key player in Quebec’s maple industry and the global leader in maple syrup, we have a responsibility to act with rigor, transparency, and consistency, from production through to the end customer.
We are committed to being a company people choose to partner with, work with, and build with for the long term. This approach guides decisions across our organization, in our operations as well as in our relationships with employees, customers, producers, partners, and the communities where we operate.
Our sustainability approach is rooted in continuous improvement. It leads us to regularly review our priorities, strategy, and objectives in order to strengthen our practices in quality, governance, responsible sourcing, social impact, and environmental performance. With four facilities located in the heart of major maple producing regions, including one in Vermont, and a presence in nearly 60 markets, we know that our role in global supply comes with a responsibility to lead by example.
Environment
Our governance and management systems enable us to monitor compliance with applicable environmental standards and requirements.
Beyond regulatory compliance, we see environmental performance as a concrete lever for supporting responsible growth, in a way that aligns with the scale of our operations and our role as a key player in Quebec’s maple industry.
Our environmental priorities include:
- climate change action
- water management
- packaging
Governance
We know that strong governance is essential to responsible management, sustainable growth, and maintaining the trust of our partners.
The main areas of focus within this priority include:
- strong governance structures
- ethical business practices
- board equality
- board independence
- compensation aligned with ESG factors
- cybersecurity
Social
As part of our vision, we aim to have a positive impact on the communities and stakeholders we engage with. This responsibility is reflected both internally and externally, in our relationships with employees, suppliers, customers, and the communities where we operate.
Because our growth depends on human expertise, the quality of our relationships, and the integrity of our practices, we place people’s development at the heart of our success.
The key issues within this priority include:
- health and safety
- food safety
- human rights
- equality, diversity and inclusion
- employee well-being and development
- community involvement
Responsible Sourcing
We recognize that our success depends on a supply chain that is strong, reliable, and responsible. As a leading player in the global maple syrup supply chain, we have a responsibility to implement rigorous practices that support the quality, traceability, and integrity of our products, from source to end customer.
Supplying our facilities with raw cane sugar, sugar beets, and maple syrup depends on a network of trusted suppliers and partners.
As part of our responsible sourcing program, we focus primarily on the following areas:
- an ethical and sustainable sourcing policy
- traceability and monitoring
- certification and verification
